Pilates Mindful Mat for Clarity and Awareness

Jun 19, 2020

Ever feel so stressed you felt physically ill, or couldn't make a decision, or show up in the world as your best self?

I know that I feel that way, particularly when thinking about big issues like climate change, racism, or hunger. I've also heard from so many of my students that they too typically get stressed into inaction or numbness.

Right now, in June of 2020 in the United States, we're in a historic moment in time that will hopefully bring about the end of systemic racism in the United States and the world.

We're also still in the midst of a global pandemic with no real plan for what to do moving forward (at least where I live).

Big changes = big stress.

And you probably know by now that chronic stress can sabotage your health and wellness goals.

Stress can also cause you to zone out, get overwhelmed, and end up unable to show up in the world as the person you want and need to be.

It's okay and is absolutely normal. In fact, it's your body's way of protecting you from dangers that seem so large that there aren't easy answers to them.

So what can we do about it?

When I'm faced with difficult times and lots of stress I know that I often need to move and get the emotions that are stored in my body flowing so I can find awareness and clarity.

This workout is exactly what I did last week to help me process all I was learning about anti-racism and help me begin to implement actions from those learnings.

This workout is a slow, mindful flow. It's best approached with curiosity and an intention to give yourself some compassionate self-care.

You can also find watch it on my You Tube channel by clicking here.

This is not about making your abs flatter or your booty more toned, but will help you find internal alignment and get to know yourself just a little bit more.

I hope that this helps you feel gain clarity, awareness, and inspiration so you can keep showing up for yourself and your world during these pivotal times.

Much love,
